Our training is conducted in groups designed to enrich your professional and personal growth regardless, of your background.
What you can expect to gain:
- In-depth knowledge of Jung’s theory of psychological types
- In-depth understanding of the “hero’s journey” to self-actualization, or what Jung called “individuation.”
- Strategies to fully engage one’s best gifts in life
- Practical insights into better understanding yourself and others
- Networking opportunities with like-minded individuals
- Continuing education for your professional resume
- Full personal access and discounted professional access to all the instruments at Life Atlas
The Training
The course begins with an illuminating overview of Jung’s larger model of Analytical Psychology, considering the role of psychological types in that model. Subsequent sessions closely examine each of the eight type orientations, unveiling their significant collaborative potential.
We consider the dynamic interplay among the eight types, discovering new layers of insight and understanding. Through engaging practicums, you’ll learn to “read the melody” of various dynamic combinations, unlocking profound insights into individual life stories.
- Eight interactive sessions and four small group meetups build a thorough understanding of type dynamics.
- Pre-recorded lectures support lively and engaging dialogue in the online sessions.
- Type dispositions and the journey of individuation come to life through five captivating films.
Week 1: Individuation and the Psychic Theater
We introduce Jung's architecture of the psyche as a conceptual theater and the role of psychological types in that theater. (2 hours) Film: “About Schmidt”
Week 2: The Compass of Consciousness
We carefully assess key terms to understand the eight types as a "compass" of consciousness. (2 hours) Film: “Billy Elliott”
Week 3: Practicum
We review the GCI Profiles to get a working feel for the types and their collaborations in life. (2 hours)
Week 4: The Four Extraverted Types
We take a close look at each of the extraverted types, their attributes, and behavioral characteristics. (2 hours) Film: “Chef”
Week 5: Practicum
We review the GCI Profiles to get a working feel for the types and their collaborations in life. (2 hours)
Week 6: The Four Introverted Types

Join us and discover the power of Jung’s original types in a whole new light.

Frequently Asked Questions
The training probes Jung’s original type model intensively. This is not training in 16 personality types, which assumes limited collaborations among lead and auxiliary types. Our focus is on “reading the melody” of all eight types as they assemble for collaborations or oppositions in the dynamic development of unique personality.
We review several important observations in Jung’s model, among them:
- The orientation of the introverted attitudes is to the “inner object” of the collective unconscious, and not to the ego or the individual.
- The term attitude applies to functions as well as to introverted or extraverted energy.
- The four functions, even when opposite, are rendered highly compatible when merged with a common directional attitude (introversion or extraversion).
- Two types perform a “cross-over” role that connects orientations to the inner object (collective unconscious) and the outer object (world at large).
- A one-sided typological disposition is not healthy and indicates a primitive lack of development that potentially breeds neurosis.
- The key elements of Jung’s architecture of the psyche, all the way to the threshold of the archetypes, have typological orientations.
- The tension and integration of opposites, so central to Jung’s depth psychology, is also the central theme of Jung’s type model.
The training will prepare you to more effectively engage Jung’s psychological types in your work with clients, learning to listen more carefully for each of the types—to “read the melody” of type dispositions, and to more fully orient to your clients’ type dispositions.
You and your clients gain access to the full complement of our instruments and reports.
The GCI is an instrument that reports graduated dispositions for each of Jung’s eight psychological types, illustrating both the conscious and less conscious dispositions.
The Discover Your Passion instrument helps to identify a career path consistent with one’s gifts, heartfelt aspirations, and interests.
The Work Profile illustrates the dispositions needed for a particular work role or career.
The Work Profile Database is a compilation of Work Profiles created by people who know the work quite well.
The Work Profile Comparison Report illustrates the degree of congruence between a Personal Profile and a Work Profile.
The sessions are delivered online, in small training groups of four to eight participants. We keep the training groups small for optimal online learning. The meeting room includes video conferencing so that everyone can see the faculty and one another.
The sessions are taught by an international faculty of Jungian analysts and students of Analytical Psychology. The sessions are centered in dialogue, so your participation will be an essential element of the training.
The lectures and dialogue are normally in English. We also offer a training in Portuguese.
The training is a rich opportunities to gain a replete working knowledge of Jung’s original types—their practical applications and their relationship to individuation. We read from Jung’s original text, Psychological Types, as well as from Jung’s Indispensable Compass by J. G. Johnston..
You are asked to watch commercially available films as case studies in advance of each session. (About Schmidt, Billy Elliot, A Beautiful Mind, The Chef, Dead Poets Society, The Hours, Best Offer, Whale Rider, Bagger Vance.) Each of the films depicts aspects of what Joseph Campbell called “The Hero’s Journey” and what Jung termed individuation.
We record all sessions. You are required to listen to the recording for any session missed, however you may not miss more than two sessions in either Part I or Part II of the training.
Gifts Compass offers practicums to review GCI profiles and to become more proficient with the GCI. We encourage training groups to continue to meet to review client profiles and expand their understanding of type dynamics. Gifts Compass also offers advanced seminars.

I live in Warsaw, Poland, where I have my private psychotherapy practice. I have also worked as a lawyer, an English language lecturer, a wedding limousine chauffeur and a trustee of a charitable historical foundation. Within the field of Jungian psychology, I am particularly fascinated by the multidisciplinary approach, which embraces and reinterprets broad areas of human activity, including such interests of mine as world religions and spirituality, mediaeval mysticism, Western esotericism, folklore and mythology, history, philosophy, music and art.
In my spare time I like to dabble in monastic iconography and calligraphy, play piano, practice Tai chi, listen to opera and participate in amateur theatre.

I’m an American living in Berlin, Germany working as a psychoanalyst locally and online.
My love of design and branding led to a career as an advertising Creative Director in Manhattan during the first half of life. A life-long scholarship of mythology brought me to Liz Greene’s Center for Psychological Astrology, in London, where I was awarded an advanced diploma. My background as an artist and astrologer allow for a certain perspective into the symbolism in the unconscious. The view that elements of the cosmos symbolize the dynamics of the psyche, lead me to pursue formal Jungian psychoanalytical training.
During downtime I like to relax with restorative yoga, Dzogchen meditation and playing soccer with my family.

My research explores how Jung’s psychological types can be seen as different yet complementary epistemic positions and I use these different ‘ways of knowing’ when working with clients in my clinical practice as an analytical hypnotherapist.
I’m also a Life Atlas Consultant and Gifts Compass Advisor, and I manage the Life Atlas Part I training.

I am a Singaporean living in Cambridge, UK, working as a researcher in the physical sciences while returning to my creative and humanistic roots. In the final year of my PhD, an inner stream of inspiration burst forth and I started writing songs for the first time. I was called to embark on a journey to overcome decades of musical stage fright in solo singing. I now perform regularly at open mics and am recording my first album touching on themes of identity, meaning, and calling. GiftsCompass has flavoured my long-standing interests in psychology and personality with a particular fascination for Jung's concept of individuation in theory and practice. Combining this with my previous training as a coach, I enjoy exploring how we can each chart a personal path aligned with our dreams and gifts.
